Why this role exists

Infrastructure automation is at an inflection point. Teams are drowning in complexity while trying to adopt modern practices. They need version control for infrastructure. They need a proper source of truth. They need someone who can look at their tangled mess and see the elegant solution hiding underneath.

That’s where you come in.

As a Solution Architect at OpsMill, you’ll work directly with infrastructure and network teams who are trying to escape automation hell. You’ll diagnose their pain points, architect real solutions, and guide them through implementation. This isn’t about selling software. It’s about solving problems that matter.

The challenge

You’ll be working with customers who have:

Infrastructure spanning networks, cloud, security, and data centers
Automation attempts that became maintenance nightmares
Teams ready to rebuild their approach from the ground up

Your job is to understand their world better than they do, then show them what’s possible.

What you’ll actually do

Jump into technical sales cycles as the trusted advisor who actually knows infrastructure automation (not a slide-deck warrior)
Build custom proof-of-concepts that demonstrate real solutions to real problems
Deliver demonstrations that make engineers lean forward in their chairs
Partner with sales teams and technology vendors on integrated solutions
Feed battlefield intelligence back to our product and engineering teams
Shape how customers, prospects, and the community think about infrastructure automation
Travel regularly for company offsites, conferences, and high-stakes customer meetings
Stay ahead of where the industry is heading, not just where it is

What you bring

You’ve already proven you can:

Build production automation for complex infrastructure (network, cloud, security, campus, data center)
Write clean Python and other automation code that other engineers respect
Wield Ansible, Nornir, or Terraform like an artisan
Explain complex technical concepts to audiences ranging from junior engineers to CTOs
Thrive in ambiguity and figure things out without a playbook
Work remotely with distributed teams across time zones

You’re based in US East, US Central, UK, or Europe.

Bonus points if you’ve wrestled with cloud networking and lived to tell the tale.
